Amanda Spielman has told the House of Lords Education Select Committee that a national decline in computing and technology classes has resulted from children being given too much “freedom of choice”. Ofsted's chief inspector said a continued decline in technological subjects was down to pupils being allowed to “select themselves out of many GCSE subjects or many other curriculum subjects at age 13 or 14”.
