Notre Dame is an independent Catholic day school for girls aged 2–18 and boys aged 2–7. We welcome families of all faiths and none. We have created a curriculum that encompasses the academic, creative, physical, moral, and intellectual challenges expected of all good schools, but also the fun, laughter and community needed to enable happy children to learn, to develop confidence and to feel fulfilled. A caring and trusting family relationship completes the balance, so all pupils can thrive.

At Notre Dame School we have created a curriculum that encompasses the academic, creative, physical, moral, and intellectual challenges expected of all good schools, but also the fun, laughter and community needed to enable happy children to learn, to develop confidence and to feel fulfilled. A caring and trusting family relationship completes the balance, so that children can thrive and flourish.
Our children participate in many sporting activities, making full use of our on-site all-weather hockey, netball, tennis and athletics facilities, indoor arena, swimming pool and extensive fields. We encourage them to sing and play instruments in concerts and events in our wonderfully acoustic chapel, perform in our fully equipped 370 seat professional theatre, and enjoy our 24 acres of beautiful, rural parkland.
Prep School pupils benefit from a vibrant, bespoke humanities curriculum to develop thinking skills, moral foundation and knowledge. Meticulously planned and delivered English programmes and a ‘mastery’ approach to Mathematics are yielding excellent outcomes for our pupils. Girls are taught by specialist teachers for a number of subjects, including Music, Science (Juniors), Art, Drama, Dance, Spanish and PE. We are fortunate to have dedicated teaching spaces for Dance, Music, Drama, ICT and Art, as well as a fully equipped Science Laboratory. Our girls leave the Prep School excellently equipped to take on their next challenge and nearly all progress to our Senior School.
Our outstanding Nursery welcomes boys and girls from the age of two and follows the Early Years Foundation Stage Guidance. As well as their own classrooms, outdoor play areas and Forest School, children access all of the school’s sporting facilities and theatre and enjoy specialist teaching for Music, Dance, Spanish and Swimming.
Notre Dame is built on 400 years of educational experience: The Company of Mary Our Lady was founded in Bordeaux in 1607 to educate girls, and Notre Dame is one of some 300 educational foundations around the world that now come under this umbrella. To ready our pupils for the wider world, to live life to the full, we believe that our shared mission and purpose help our children to aspire to be the best they can be in in all their endeavours, during their school years and beyond.
