The personalised nature of education in the school means that pupils are closely monitored and any possible learning difficulty is quickly identified. We currently have two pupils in KS3 and KS4 who are being monitored for possible learning difficulties. The other pupils on the SEND register are receiving additional support. There is a spectrum of learning difficulties ranging from mild to significant which cover the four main areas of need: communication and interaction, cognition and learning, social, emotional and mental health and sensory or physical needs.
The SEND register is monitored and updated regularly by the SENCo, based on teacher feedback, screenings, assessments, dialogue with parents, or new pupils joining or leaving the school. We also identify, through our own tracking and internal processes, other students with SEND; these are supported in school and pupils are monitored for any developing indications, which includes dialogue with parents and tutors. The register and day to day implementation of the school's SEND policy, is overseen by the SENCo. Under the provisions of the Children and Families Act 2014 and as set out in the Code of Practice, we follow a graduated approach in supporting our students with SEND. We have two pupils who have an EHCP and they are both supported by an LSA who collaborates with teachers. We also have a student on a healthcare plan, who sometimes attends school virtually.
We strongly believe that a Fidelis College education should be available to every student and not just those who can afford the fees. We offer both bursaries and scholarships for 11+, 13+ & Sixth Form entry.
Bursaries
The worth of a bursary is awarded on a sliding scale, depending on your means.
Bursaries are awarded if a student is successful in the entrance exam and interview, their family’s bursary application is successful, and if there are sufficient funds available for allocation in the bursary fund.
Online bursary application forms are sent out by our Finance Department and need to be completed and returned by the due date in order to be considered.
Scholarships
We offer an Overall Academic, Maths, English, Art, Drama, Sport and Music Scholarships for each entry point.
Scholarships are 10% of the school’s annual fees and are renewed until the holder leaves the school, subject to satisfactory progress and conduct. Applicants will be considered on the basis of their performance in the entrance examination, interview as well as their current school’s reference. All students are automatically considered for the maths, English and Overall Academic Scholarships when they sit the entrance exam. Families who are interested in pursuing Sport, Performing Arts or Art Scholarship should make their formal interests known when registering.
