Leicester High School for Girls is an independent day school for girls aged 3–18, providing education from Early Years through to Sixth Form. The school combines strong academic outcomes with a warm, supportive environment in which girls are known as individuals and encouraged to achieve their personal best.
The school offers a broad range of support for pupils with additional learning needs. In 2025–26, Leicester High significantly expanded its SEND provision, growing from one part-time SENDCo to a dedicated team comprising a full-time SEND lead on the Senior Leadership Team, an additional full-time specialist and two part-time specialists. Dedicated support spaces have also been created within the school. This investment enables tailored support, close collaboration with families and staff, and early intervention where needed, helping more girls access the opportunities and personalised education that Leicester High offers.
Alongside academic study, pupils are encouraged to develop confidence, leadership skills and a sense of service through a wide range of co-curricular activities, outreach projects, sport, music, drama and community partnerships. The school's ethos is captured in its values: Known, Valued and Inspired to be Her Best.
27 pupils (January 2025 data) receive bursary assistance from the School. 39 pupils receive scholarships, of which 2 receive 55% scholarships from Sir Thomas White Loan Charity.
Academic Scholarships are awarded for exceptional academic performance and potential to excel. They are not means-tested, and those funded by the School provide between 5% and 25% of the School fees.
Being a scholar of the School carries with it expectations and responsibility. Scholars are expected to take a responsible approach to their academic studies and participate fully in the life of the School.
The Headteacher's Scholarships for Year 7 entry.
We have a long history of providing academic scholarships to selected girls joining Year 7. Our Headmaster’s Scholarships provide between 5 - 25% fees funding from Years 7-11, to girls joining the School in Year 7. This Scholarship is also open to existing Year 6 students who will be joining Year 7. The scholarship is not means-tested; however, we are keen to encourage applications from families who may not currently be considering an independent education. Therefore, depending on financial circumstances and fund availability, bursaries to cover up to 80% of fees are also available.
Music Scholarships and Awards are offered for existing Year 6-13 students or those entering Years 6-13.
Auditions take place annually and will be awarded to pupils who demonstrate particular musical potential and aptitude.
