Conservative MP Miriam Cates has attributed the increasing number of school-starters wearing nappies to the rise in working mothers. Ms Cates told the Alliance for Responsible Citizenship (ARC) conference that the “GDP-obsessed” economic climate has meant mothers of infants are being pushed into the workplace where they are unable to potty train their offspring.
