King Alfred School (KAS) believes it is important that access to a KAS eduction is not restricted to only those who can afford our fees. Each year, means-tested bursaries are awarded to children entering Year 7 and Year 12. Year 7 Bursaries awarded remain in place to Year 11, subject to periodic financial review, as refered to below, and will be extended to the Sixth Form, subject to a financial review and a review of the pupil's academic achievement and attitude.
Bursaries apply to school fees and may also be extended to cover extras, such as trips and lunches, depending on the means testing review. The equivalent of up to two fully funded means-tested bursaries are awarded each year to children entering Year 7 and at least two fully funded places may be offered to students wishing to join the Sixth Form.
5% of our pupils are in receipt of some form of fee assistance, 47% of whcih are on full fee remission. All students who receive support with fees are means tested.
Students entering Year 7 or Year 12, who wish to apply for a mean-tested bursary, will need to complete and return the applicaton form by 30 September 2019 for entrance to the school in September 2020. Internal candidates will need to submit their application by 12 September 2019. Application forms may be obtained from the Bursary Manager on 020 8457 5209.
All bursary awards are subject to means-testing and will be periodically reviewed during the pupil's time at KAS. This may result in the level of bursary awarded being amended if parental financial circumstances have changed.
If you have any further questions regarding bursary places at KAS please do not hesitate to contact the Bursary manager on 020 8457 5209
