Privacy notice

The Independent Schools Council (ISC) is a membership association made up of schools within membership of one of the five Heads’ associations. ISC is a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee, registered with Companies House (registered number 1103760).

This privacy notice is intended to cover data provided when using the parental enquiry form on ISC’s website.

What we collect and what we use it for

When you complete the parental enquiry form you will provide the following data to us: - your full name - your email address - child’s year and month of birth - child’s current school - proposed start date

This information will be made available to the schools selected by you in order for them to contact you.

Sharing your data

Schools selected by you will be able to access your data and where they download this from ISC’s secure area, they will become the ‘data controller’ for Data Protection Law purposes. We will not share your personal data with any other organisations, other than where this is required with third party processors for the functionality of the parental enquiry service.

Lawful basis under GDPR and retention

ISC is relying on ‘consent’ to hold and make this data available to schools selected by you. We will not add you to our mailing lists unless you sign up to these directly and your information will not be used by us for marketing purposes. The data that you provide will be held by ISC for two months after which we will delete it from our systems. During those two months the schools which you have selected will be able to access the data from a secure area of the ISC website. You have the right to withdraw your consent at any time and can do so by emailing web@isc.co.uk or writing to the Independent Schools Council, First Floor 27 Queen Anne’s Gate, London SW1H 9BU. Please note that once the school downloads or stores your data, they become the data controller and you will need to contact them should you want your details removed.

Your rights in relation to this data and how to contact us

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (EU 2016/679) and the UK Data Protection Act 2018, you have certain rights associated with the use of your data.

If you believe that ISC has not complied with this privacy notice or has acted otherwise than in accordance with Data Protection Law, please send your concerns to legal@isc.co.uk or the Independent Schools Council, First Floor 27 Queen Anne’s Gate, London SW1H 9BU. ISC stores and transfers all data securely and we are committed to ensuring that we only use data processors who are GDPR compliant.
