Department for Education and Home Office guidance

Revised statutory guidance and sponsor guidance published.

The Department for Education has published revised versions of Keeping Children Safe in Education and Working Together to Safeguard Children. They have also published some advice documents on What to do if you’re worried a child is being abused, Safeguarding practitioners: information sharing advice and Data protection for schools considering cloud software services. The first advice document is referred to in the revised KCSiE.

The Home Office has published revised Tier 4 Sponsor guidance in a completely new format. The guidance sets out the changes to terminology for Tier 4 sponsors. From 6 April 2015, 'Highly Trusted Sponsor' will be replaced by 'Tier 4 Sponsor' and 'A-rated sponsor' will be replaced by 'Probationary Sponsor'. At a meeting with ISC, the Home Office confirmed that they will give sponsors sufficient time to change any references to Highly Trusted Sponsor status and A-rated status in their promotional material (for example, their website).
