Cann Independent Psychological Consultancy has been established for over 7 years. It is run by a Chartered Educational Psychologist, with membership of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the Division of Educational and Child Psychology (DECP). (Qualifications – MSc Professional Educational Psychology; BA Honours; PGCE; Registered Nurse; Registered Midwife; Registered Health Visitor). The ethos of the Consultancy is to use psychological principles and frameworks to elicit information, which is used to enable students to achieve their academic potential. The Consultancy provides services for Independent schools, Local Authority schools and individual parents with primary and secondary pupils. Services are also provided for Further and Higher Education establishments. The services include:
• Consultation and problem solving, or individual assessment for students with special educational needs such as: learning difficulties, emotional and behavioural difficulties, ‘gifted’ or exceptionally able and examination arrangements. Reports with recommendations are provided to highlight intervention strategies to be implemented.
• In-service training for teaching and support staff.
• Organisational consultation on whole-school issues such as behaviour management, anti-bullying policy and stress management.
