Independent nutrition was founded in response to the needs of independent schools for expert help with the nutritional aspect of their food provision. Griselda Halling and Kate Delmar Morgan are nutritionists with wide experience in clinical and public health nutrition. We are passionate and serious about ensuring that every school child receives optimum nutrition. Schools find many benefits including improved all-round pupil health and increased appeal to parents.
In our consultancy capacity we carry out comprehensive audits of a school’s nutrition provision against our evidence-based Day or Boarding School Nutrition Standards. These standards are markedly more comprehensive than the Government’s Nutrient-Based and Food-Based Standards for state maintained schools. Software analysis of menus is used as part of the auditing process. Detailed findings and specific, practical, recommendations for changes are reported back to the school. We work in a supportive role with your caterer.
Independent Nutrition also provides educational programmes, talks and workshops on nutrition. These can be designed for pupils, parents or staff, and cover a wide variety of topics linking nutrition to health, learning and performance. They not only improve knowledge of nutrition but also provide the school with an important opportunity to widen the scope of its PSHE programme. |
