School Information
We aim to provide a happy and purposeful atmosphere in which children learn to set themselves high standards. Individuality is encouraged and equal esteem is given to achievements in and out of class. The School has a strong tradition of scholarship, and many awards have been won at a wide range of senior schools, primarily academic but also in art, music and sport. Out of school we offer children many opportunities for sports and cultural activities. Girls and boys in the Prep school all play sport every day. Much music and drama takes place: 95% of pupils in the Prep school learn an individual instrument and the choirs perform regularly. There are two orchestras and a wind band, as well as much singing and ensemble work. Each Summer term 50 or more children are involved in the annual production of a Shakespearean play in our open air theatre. A purpose-built theatre complex operates as a local arts centre for concerts, lectures, exhibitions and winter term plays. Set in 50 acres of fields and woodlands, the school has a Sports Hall, 4 tennis courts and a heated outdoor pool, as well as a 25m indoor pool. Boarding, entirely elective, is on a bi-weekly basis, allowing time for full weekends both at home and at school.
