St Piran's School
Maidenhead, Berkshire, SL6 7LZ
School Information
St Piran’s School successfully provides a well-balanced all round education, for children from 3 to 13, giving all pupils a wide range of opportunities combined with social and leadership skills.
Many parents comment on our welcoming atmosphere and motivated children. We aim to offer an excellent academic education as well as access to a wide range of music, drama and sport. Pupils use our St Piran’s Centre with indoor swimming pool, dance studio and Sports Hall, along with our various music rooms to explore their creativity. We have a school orchestra, and many choirs and children are encouraged to participate in school productions and plays. Sports fixtures are a key part of our week and all children take part in a wide variety of physical activity. Our last inspection concluded that “Pupils’ academic guidance and pastoral care are outstanding”.
Christian values lie at the heart of the school; we have a weekly Chapel service, and a well developed system of pastoral care exists within the school. Children have access to an on-site matron and all Upper School children meet regularly in tutor groups to discuss pastoral matters.
Our youngest children in Nursery enjoy working and playing in a happy and safe environment and are taught by specialist teachers and qualified Nursery assistants. Lower and Middle School children are taught by class teachers and enjoy all the facilities of the main school including the ICT centre and Art Room. From Year 5 upwards, children are taught by subject specialist teachers and in Years 7 and 8 they are prepared for local Grammar Schools or Senior Independent Schools through the Common Entrance and Scholarship examinations.
By the time they leave school, pupils are well educated, can think creatively and critically and have an extremely secure grounding in the skills needed to achieve both academically and socially.
