ISC response to Consultation on Registration and Regulation of Independent Schools

19 October 2007

ISC's response strongly criticises the DCSF proposals in this consultation to:

transfer the registration and monitoring of independent schools from DCSF to Ofsted
remove the category of approved independent schools (s. 347 schools)
remove the need for local authorities to seek consent from the Secretary of State to educate a pupil with a statement of SEN in independent schools catering wholly or mainly for pupils with SEN
