DfES Consultation on Foundation Schools and Expansion of Successful and Popular Schools

This consultation sets out a vision for a secondary school sector of “independent specialist schools”. This vision is underpinned by proposals for encouraging secondary schools to become more autonomous by becoming foundation schools, and for enhancing the freedoms and flexibilities available to foundation schools.

DENI Proposal for a draft Education (Northern Ireland) Order

The Department of Education consults on a proposed draft Education (Northern Ireland) Order which will make the necessary changes to introduce the revised curriculum and give effect to aspects of the new arrangements, including the Entitlement Framework, the prohibition of academic selection and powers to introduce new admissions arrangements. It will also introduce new arrangements for the suspension and expulsion of pupils from grant-aided schools and make a number of other legislative changes.
