New E-communications/Press Officer joins the ISC team

Colin Smith has joined the Independent Schools Council (ISC) as E-Communications/Press Officer (10 August 2005).

Colin was educated at Berkley Secondary College and at the University of Newcastle where he majored in Public Relations.

After graduating from university he began his working career at International Software Systems where he worked in corporate communications in the IT sector and the finance industry.

Following International Software Systems, Colin moved to the sister companies of Social Change Media and Pluto Press.

As Events and Media Manager, he is credited with launching a range of high profile Australian publications. In his dual role as Campaign Manager he worked with government and non-government agencies on a range of social issues.

He then made the transition into government where he worked as media officer for Sutherland Shire Council. As one of the largest local government regions in Australia Colin worked on a number of key scientific, social and environmental media campaigns. A career highlight includes the successful promotion of Opera on the Beach, an event, which attracted more 80,000 opera lovers over a 5-year period.

Colin is experienced in media relations, social marketing, public and corporate relations, events management and web content management and is relishing the opportunity of working with the ISC team and with independent schools nationwide.
