New press office chief for ISC
27 May 2005
Sarah Tunstall joins the Independent Schools Council (ISC) as Development Director on 15th June 2005. The timing of the appointment allows a handover period from Dick Davison, who leaves ISC on 15th July.
Sarah was educated at James Allen's Girls' School and at The University of Liverpool, where she took the highest first class degree in Music for five years, winning the Ricordi Prize, the Rushworth Music Prize and a Royal Institution Rathbone Scholarship.
After graduating, Sarah became successively Advertising Manager, Publisher and Publishing Director at Newsquest Specialist Media, winning the UK's top Business Magazine publishing award (PPA Business Magazine Publisher of the Year) at the age of 26. Her investigative research into the collapse of a major financial company led to the offer of a journalist's post on a national newspaper.
Sarah is experienced in managing journalists and sales staff, and has launched and run events, including seminars, a major conference and two sailing regattas. She is also experienced in website development. She takes over Dick Davison's responsibilities for Press Office and for the ISC website, and will additionally run the first ISC one-day conference in the Spring of 2006.
Welcoming the appointment, Mrs Jean Scott, ISC Chairman, said "We are delighted to have attracted someone of Sarah's formidable talents and experience to ISC, and wish her every success in her new job".
Sarah celebrated her 30th birthday earlier this month. She is Chairman of the Docklands Sinfonietta.
