Everyone associated with the Independent Schools Council will be greatly saddened to learn of the tragic death yesterday of John Gibson, Head of Stoke College and former chair of the Independent Schools Association, one of our constituent associations.
Mr Gibson, who died as a result of a heart attack, was described by friends and colleagues as a committed and inspirational leader. ISC wishes to extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.
Arthur Bray, Principal of GEMS Hampshire School and the current chair of ISA, said: "He was a man of integrity and wisdom that was always enhanced with a unique humour and was driven by a desire to ensure that everyone he encountered was nurtured to their full potential.
"Inspirational men like John are rare and serve to remind us that it is not how long we live, but what we do with our life that counts. He has touched the lives of so many and will be missed by his wife Karen, his children, grandchildren, pupils and staff, everyone within ISA mourns the loss of his friendship and expertise".
