"ISC independent schools are committed to widening access and our schools are making strenuous efforts to raise money to help with fees."

Fee Assistance

Our schools are committed to widening access through bursaries and other fee assistance.

Means tested bursaries

ISC schools would like to widen access to children, even if their families cannot afford the fees.

ISC schools increased the value of means tested bursaries by 2.3% this year. Bursaries are valued at £348 million.

There are 43,400 pupils receiving means tested assistance. 40.5% of these pupils have more than half their fees remitted. Means tested bursaries are worth an average of £8,730 per pupil per year.

There are 5,629 pupils at ISC schools who pay no fees at all. 30% of 2012 entrants with a full Oxford University Bursary were educated in the independent sector.

Many of our schools have launched major fund raising programs to be able to widen access to children from disadvantaged homes.
