Charity Commission guidance on fundraising (CC20) Draft guidance published for consultation
The Charity Commission has published a draft document entitled ‘Charity fundraising: a guide to trustee duties’ which replaces the Commission’s current guidance ‘Charities and Fundraising’.
The Commission are currently consulting on the revised guidance and this presents an opportunity for schools to comment on this new version. Schools might like to take this opportunity to comment on the proposed changes involving, where relevant, their Director of Development or External Relations and Governors.
The changes are intended to tighten oversight of the way charities are governed with particular reference to their fundraising practices. The consultation period runs until 11 February 2016 and the final guidance is planned to be published in time for when the new Fundraising Regulator opens on 1 April 2016.
