Tax-free childcare draft guidance

HMRC publishes draft guidance on tax-free childcare. Also see updates on the Small Business, Enterprise and Employment Bill 2014.

Tax-free childcare draft guidance

Earlier this month HMRC published draft guidance on tax-free childcare. The guidance is intended to provide easy-to-understand and accurate advice for using the scheme.

HMRC are inviting views from stakeholders on the first draft. The guidance can be viewed by clicking here and the closing date for comments is 15 December 2014.

Small Business, Enterprise and Employment Bill 2014

The Small Business, Enterprise and Employment Bill 2014 contains a proposal to reduce the early years school registration threshold with Ofsted from age three to age two. The Government has published explanatory notes.

It should be noted that the ‘rising three’ exemption from the Early Years Foundation Stage Learning and Development Requirements is currently contained within secondary legislation. At present, there does not seem to be a proposal to introduce a ‘rising two’ exemption.

ISC will continue to monitor this legislation and keep schools updated with its progress.
