Welcome to the Teaching Zone
Teachers of the highest quality are the lifeblood of ISC schools.
Parents recognise the dedication of those who set high standards in teaching their children and who are sincere in the guidance they give them.
Heads and governors are well aware that if they do not employ high-quality staff, their school's future is very much at risk.
In this section, you can find out more about teaching in the independent sector. If you are just about to embark on your teaching career, you can find out about teacher induction and the work of the ISC Teacher Induction Panel. There is also advice for induction tutors on employing and monitoring NQTs.
If you are looking for employment in an independent school, visit our Job Zone for current appointments.
If you are already teaching, you may find it useful to visit our Suppliers and Services directory, The Product Pages. Here you will find details of products and services that may be able to aid and enhance your pupils' learning.
Before you apply to train to teach, you should try to gain a little experience of the reality! Visiting a school or a department is one way to do this, and if you want to have a more structured time, it's possible to apply to the Student Associate Scheme for undergraduates thinking about a career in teaching. More information can be found on the Training and Development Agency website or if you are in the Reading area: www.reading.ac.uk/sas
