Information for Overseas Parents & Pupils

British independent schools have a long tradition of welcoming pupils from overseas. While some are expatriates, about over 20,000 are boys and girls of foreign nationalities from many countries in mainland Europe, Asia and the Far East, the Middle East, Africa, Australasia and the Americas. They come from a wide variety of cultural backgrounds and have much to offer the schools as well as benefiting from a British educational experience.

The ISC Census 2007 saw a 29% rise on 2006 in the number of armed forces families sending their children to ISC schools. This number is now 1,687 children.

Increasing numbers of overseas pupils are attracted to British boarding schools by their high academic reputation; excellent examination results; high standard of English language teaching; broad curriculum; wide range of activities outside the classroom in a secure environment; pastoral care for every boy and girl; small classes, and good discipline.
