The Council of British International Schools (COBIS) is a global membership association of over 100 quality British International Schools in 40 plus countries worldwide. COBIS is committed to providing member schools with quality professional support in order to deliver outstanding education and development opportunities for all members of their school communities. COBIS schools which have completed an ISI inspection, which will provide a guarantee of quality for parents, students and teachers, can access ISC benefits, which complements the core COBIS membership offer. 

Selecting the right school can be a challenging process, however, parents and qualified job seekers can be reassured that a COBIS member school works within specific guidelines of ethical practice, which will reflect the high standards and ethos of the British style educational system.

COBIS represents member schools and the interests of its pupils, parents, governors and staff to:

  • provide formal British accreditation in accordance with the UK Department or Education inspection criteria
  • facilitate, coordinate and support networking opportunities for International schools
  • represent member schools with the British Government, educational bodies, and the corporate sector
  • provide access to information about trends and developments in UK education
  • provide effective professional development for senior leaders, teachers and support staff
  • promote career opportunities within the global COBIS network
  • provide and process Criminal Record Bureau checks to support child protection and safer    recruitment and employment practices

With over 100 quality British International schools in the growing COBIS global network and with approximately 60,000 pupils currently being educated in a COBIS member school, the association effectively promotes the benefits and standards of the British Educational system and curriculum on a daily basis.
