Capital Expenditure

During 2009/10, schools spent £640.9 million on capital projects (£1,265 per pupil), with each school cutting back on expenditure by an average of 11.1% year-on-year. Boarding schools spent £78.1 million on new or refurbished boarding accommodation (£1,147 per boarder). The remainder of the money was split between £285.8 million on new buildings, £153.2 million on improvements to buildings, £56 million on equipment and £54.2 million on information technology.
