A-Level Results

In 2009, 32,393 candidates from 466 SC schools took A-Levels. Of the 105,135 entries from these candidates:

• 99.4% of all entries (104,461) received pass (A-E) grades, as in 2008 (national average 97.5%, up from 97.2% in 2008)
• 52.3% of entries (54,984) were awarded the top A grade, up from 50.7% in 2008 (national average 26.7%, up from 25.9% in 2008)

77.9% of entries (81,893) were graded A or B, up from 76.9% in 2008 (national average 51.2%, up from 50.8% in 2008)
