About Us

The Independent Schools Council (ISC) represents over 1280 UK independent schools educating more than 500,000 children. More than 1,000 ISC schools are charities. ISC is strictly independent of all political parties and acts in the interests of all children. It stands for choice, diversity and excellence in education; the development of talent at all levels of ability; and the widening of opportunity for children from all backgrounds to achieve their potential.

We run a number of events each year for Heads, Bursars, Governors and key staff at our member schools across the UK.

In 2009, ISC hosted single day conferences for Special Educational Needs Coordinators, Marketing Managers and ICT experts, along with seminars on legal issues affecting the education sector.
