Membership Information
The Independent Schools Council (ISC) represents associations with 1,234 member schools in the UK and 2 member schools in the Republic of Ireland. In addition there are 25 British International Schools that are full members of COBIS. These schools cover the full age and ability range. ISC schools educate more than 500,000 children in the UK - this is more than 80% of the children in independent school education. All ISC schools must be a member of one of ISC's member associations and are accredited in the following way:
- Before being accepted as an ISC association member, each school has to pass an accreditation inspection carried out by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) (England) or the national inspectorate (Wales, Scotland & Northern Ireland) and fulfil the criteria of that association.
Schools wishing to join the ISC family/umbrella are invited to contact one or more of the Constituent Associations.
