Matthew Burgess is a solicitor with almost 20 years' experience in private practice and in-house. At ISC he is responsible for setting and delivering the public affairs programme focusing principally on interface with Goverment and the media on legal and regulatory issues affecting the sector. Prior to joining ISC, he was Principal Legal Counsel at Centrica advising the FTSE100 group on strategically significant transactions as well as legal and regulatory compliance. Before that, Matthew worked with leading international law firm Linklaters in Singapore and London, and Gouldens in London, in each case with a brief comprising corporate and financial work. He is a Fulbright Fellow and graduated from Queens' College, Cambridge with a first class law degree, after attending Brighton College. He is a governor of an ISC school and is the sector representative on the Government's Independent-State School Partnership Forum.

Alexandra was educated at Clifton High School, Bristol and at the University of Edinburgh. She then completed the postgraduate NCTJ qualification in London. Alexandra has worked in the field of media relations for several years, namely for Sky News and two international corporate law firms.

Kellie manages ISC's website. She has a degree in MediaLab Arts from the University of Plymouth. She comes from a web development background and has previously worked for a Telecommunications company based in the Docklands, London.

Rudi joined ISC in February 2008. He has an MA in History and an MPhil in Medieval History from Cambridge University where he has also undertaken research towards an as yet uncompleted PhD.

Adele joined ISC in January 2007 as an SQL and ASP.net developer. She is responsible for designing databases and websites for ISC. Adele graduated from the University of Hertfordshire in 2003 and holds a first class degree in computer science.

Buffy joined ISC in September 2007 to work as PA to the chief executive and chairman. Prior to this she worked in sales at Moët Hennessy. Buffy studied French at Leeds University, graduating in 2004, during which time she also spent a year abroad working for Air France in Paris.

Ewa joined ISC in April 2009 as part of the Research team. She was educated in Warsaw School of Economics with a Masters degree in Quantitative Methods and Information Systems. Previously Ewa worked in Central Statistical Office of Poland as a specialist in foreign trade statistics. She started her career in London working as an accounts assistant.

Rosie manages ISC's website. She was educated at Clifton High School, Bristol and has a Biomedical Science degree from the University of Durham and a Masters in Marketing. Rosie worked as a Communications Manager for several years prior to joining ISC in December 2007.
Sarah McKimm

Sarah McKimm read law at Oxford and qualified as a solicitor in 1989. She represents the sector's interests in legal matters relating to children and education. She is on the Home Office's Joint VBS/CRB/ISA consultative group for the education sector and the DCSF's Information Sharing Advisory Group.
Previously Sarah trained and worked in a major City law firm as a commercial litigator where she managed a wide range of high profile cases for banking, insurance and commercial clients. She later took a change of direction and studied for a Masters degree at King's College, London in law relating to children which led to a second career as an education law specialist. Sarah has served her community as a member of the Community Panel for sentencing young offenders and Chair of Governors and continues to be a school governor, member of her local authority's Independent Appeal Panel for exclusions and volunteer SEN advisor for IPSEA.
